Application Overview

In a film and packaging production area, large cylindrical rolls may need to move from a preparation position to processing equipment with an elevated loading point. This application example considers the SINOLIFT CDD20 Electric Adjustable Dual-Arm Stacker for picking up, transporting and presenting a roll where the load can be supported from below and the receiving interface is compatible.

The customized stacker combines electric travel, electric-hydraulic lifting and two independently powered adjustable arms with V-shaped supports. Adjusting the inner distance between the arms allows their supporting positions to be matched to the roll and its permitted contact areas. Arm height adjustment then brings the supported material toward the required machine loading position.

Application Background and Handling Challenges

A cylindrical roll needs a support arrangement that accounts for its weight, diameter, width and contact requirements. A conventional stacker may not provide suitable contact geometry or the required spacing between supporting points. A fixed support arrangement can also be difficult to match to different roll widths or machine access conditions.

The transfer task continues beyond pickup. Operators need enough space to transport and turn the loaded truck, then align the roll with the receiving equipment at the correct height. Machine frames, guards and existing material supports can restrict arm access, so both the pickup and the handover must be checked before the handling arrangement is selected.

The SINOLIFT Handling Solution

The CDD20 uses a motor for each support arm, allowing the left and right arms to be positioned independently within the specified inner spacing range. This lets the supporting positions be planned around the roll and the workstation. The arms should be correctly positioned and symmetrical about the machine centerline as required for the approved load arrangement.

V-shaped supporting areas help locate a cylindrical load and limit its tendency to roll sideways. A heavy-duty C-channel mast and dual hydraulic cylinders provide the lifting structure. The approximately 270 mm minimum and 1900 mm maximum arm heights give an effective lifting range of approximately 1630 mm; the maximum arm height is distinct from that vertical travel.

Electric travel provides stepless speed control from 0 to 5 km/h. The configuration uses a lithium battery and PU wheels, with non-metallic lift guide rollers intended to help reduce iron particles generated by rolling friction in the lifting guides. These rollers alone do not establish suitability for a particular cleanliness specification.

The documents describe a non-standard customizable product. The listed dimensions and equipment describe the reference configuration; changes to roll support, loading height or machine access need technical confirmation. Automatic synchronization, roll rotation and a particular machine transfer mechanism are not specified.

Key Features for This Application

Independent Electric Arm Adjustment

Separate motors position the left and right arms, with an approximate inner spacing range of 600–1600 mm for matching the required supporting points.

V-Shaped Roll Supports

The shaped supporting areas help locate cylindrical material from below and reduce unwanted rolling during the planned handling sequence.

Dual-Cylinder Lifting

Dual hydraulic cylinders and a heavy-duty C-channel mast support vertical positioning between the listed minimum and maximum arm heights.

Electric Travel Control

Stepless 0–5 km/h speed control lets the operator select an appropriate travel speed for the loaded route and the final approach to equipment.

Non-Metallic Guide Rollers

Non-metallic lift guide rollers help reduce iron particles from rolling friction, relevant when reviewing material handling near production processes.

Guards and Limit Protection

The described configuration includes an emergency stop, mechanical and electrical limits, travel limit switches, wire mesh guarding and a transparent PC protective panel.

Typical Operating Process

Step 1: Plan the support and receiving arrangement. Confirm roll weight, dimensions, contact areas and center of gravity against the approved configuration. Check pickup height, receiving height and arm clearance at both ends of the transfer.

Step 2: Set the arm positions. Before taking the load, adjust the left and right arms electrically to the approved support spacing. Establish the required symmetry about the truck centerline. Adjustment while carrying a load should follow the equipment’s expressly approved procedure.

Step 3: Approach and pick up. Drive toward the preparation position at an appropriate speed and bring the V-shaped supports beneath the designated contact areas. Raise the arms to take the load, confirming that the roll is supported as intended before clearing the starting support.

Step 4: Transport to the machine. Move along the prepared route with the load in the travel position prescribed by the equipment instructions. Allow for the complete loaded envelope, floor conditions and turning space when controlling speed and direction.

Step 5: Raise and align. At the receiving position, use the lifting system to present the roll at the verified loading height. Confirm that the arms, roll and mast clear the surrounding machine structure throughout positioning.

Step 6: Transfer and withdraw. Complete the agreed handover so the receiving equipment supports the roll before the arms are lowered or withdrawn. The transfer method must be matched to the receiving support; arm height and spacing alone do not establish machine compatibility.

This sequence illustrates the application and should be read alongside the equipment instructions and the approved machine loading procedure.

Practical Application Benefits

Adjustable supporting positions can help one configured truck accommodate different roll support requirements within its approved operating envelope. This may reduce the need to change between fixed support devices when roll dimensions or workstation arrangements vary.

Combining travel, pickup and elevated presentation on the same unit can help reduce intermediate material handovers. The benefit depends on accessible pickup points and a receiving arrangement that allows the roll to leave the V-shaped supports without an additional unsupported handling step.

Electric lifting can help reduce manual effort in bringing heavy rolls toward a loading position, while controlled travel supports the approach to the workstation. These are potential application benefits rather than measured outcomes from an installed customer project. The load arrangement, route and machine interface remain central to suitability.

The “≥2 t” entry describes the supplied load requirement; obtain the final allowable load for the selected arm spacing, support position and lifting condition. The Ø1100 mm and Ø183 mm entries are reference roll dimensions, not a stated permissible diameter range. Confirm the drawing definition of “roll center diameter,” “overall side length” and the front working area dimension before using them for interface or clearance design.

Selection Considerations

  1. Roll weight and supporting points. Provide maximum weight, diameter, width, center of gravity and permitted contact areas. Confirm V-support fit, arm spacing and the allowable load for the final configuration.

  2. Pickup and machine handover. Share pickup and receiving heights, supporting structures and interface drawings. Confirm arm access, the required transfer sequence and clearance as the receiving equipment takes the load.

  3. Route and loaded space. Provide aisle widths, turning areas, doorways, floor conditions and overhead restrictions. Check the loaded envelope as well as truck dimensions; the stated turning radius alone does not define the required aisle width.

  4. Duty and operating environment. Describe transfer frequency, travel distance, charging availability and production cleanliness requirements. Confirm the battery, protective features and any custom changes needed for the intended work area.
